ListerGO case study

How ListerGO helped extreme sports & adventure photographer Henry George stay connected in India

A month in the Himalayas, a high-altitude paragliding expedition and the need for reliable mobile data from the moment the team landed.

“An eSIM for this expedition was the ideal option. I could load it before I left the UK, meaning I could hit the ground running in India.”

We spoke with Henry George, owner of Dolomite Creative Media, about why he chose a ListerGO eSIM while covering a high-altitude paragliding expedition in the Himalayas, and how reliable connectivity supported the team throughout the trip.

1. Tell us a little about yourself and the kind of work you do.

Henry runs Dolomite Creative Media and works as a photographer and videographer specialising in adventure and extreme sports. His work regularly takes him around the world, often to unfamiliar countries where he may not speak the local language.

Because so much of the work is international, being able to communicate clearly and stay connected is an important part of every assignment.

2. How important is staying connected when you’re working in remote or unfamiliar locations?

For Henry, connectivity is essential. Mobile data helps with organising logistics, locating shooting areas, coordinating with the wider team and keeping track of rapidly changing plans.

It also plays an important safety role. The sports Henry covers can be inherently risky, so dependable communications matter if the team ever needs to respond to a medical or logistical emergency. On top of that, internet access is needed for social media, sponsor content, client communications and keeping in touch with people back home.

3. Before discovering ListerGO eSIMs, how did you typically stay connected when travelling abroad?

Previously, Henry would either accept daily roaming charges or try to buy a local SIM after arriving. Roaming could quickly become expensive, while local SIMs brought their own difficulties – finding a retailer, dealing with language barriers, getting the SIM activated and making sure there was enough credit once the team moved into more remote areas.

4. What happened with roaming charges on your trip to Morocco?

A short work trip to Morocco highlighted the problem. Henry expected the cost to be similar to European roaming, but the three-day trip resulted in a bill of around £100. That experience made him much more conscious of having a predictable connectivity cost before future trips.

5. What concerns did you have ahead of your next major trip?

Cost was the biggest concern. When travelling for business, unexpected expenses add up quickly, and Henry wanted mobile connectivity to be one part of the trip that could be planned and budgeted in advance rather than becoming an unwanted bill afterwards.

6. How did you first come across ListerGO?

ListerGO came onto Henry’s radar ahead of the India expedition. He was due to spend a month in the Himalayas and, after looking through the available plans, was surprised by the breadth of destination coverage and the number of data options available for different trip lengths and usage levels.

7. What was the expedition to India about?

The team travelled to Uttarakhand in northern India, close to the Nepalese border, for a high-altitude paragliding expedition. Benjamin Kellett and Matt Johnston were attempting to fly towards Nanda Devi, India’s highest mountain, while Henry captured photography and video content for sponsors and brand partnerships.

8. What appealed to you about using an eSIM rather than traditional roaming or a local SIM?

The main advantage was being able to prepare everything before travelling. Henry could install the eSIM in the UK, land in India and get online immediately without first needing to find a shop or negotiate the process of buying a local SIM.

It also gave him a known cost. Across the month, Henry spent around £40 and had access to data in areas where Wi-Fi was often patchy.

9. What was the process of purchasing and installing the eSIM like?

Henry described the purchase as straightforward. He selected the plan online, paid using Apple Pay and received the installation details by email shortly afterwards.

10. Did you set everything up before leaving for India?

Yes. Henry installed the eSIM at Heathrow while waiting for the flight. His iPhone allowed him to keep the India eSIM alongside his UK line, then switch between them as needed.

After landing in Delhi, he disabled the UK line, enabled the India eSIM and connected straight away. The setup involved a few steps, but he found the ListerGO guidance clear and easy to follow.

11. How did the experience compare with a local SIM?

The biggest difference was how quickly and reliably Henry was connected. His eSIM was ready as soon as he arrived, whereas his colleague’s local SIM took much longer to arrange and later delivered more intermittent connectivity.

That difference was particularly noticeable in high mountain villages, where having dependable data helped the team continue handling everyday work requirements despite the remote setting.

12. What advice would you give other international travellers?

Henry’s recommendation is to make connectivity part of the travel plan before departure. For him, an eSIM removes much of the uncertainty around roaming costs and local SIM availability while giving travellers a simple way to get online once they arrive.

13. Do you expect to use ListerGO again?

Yes. The key benefit for Henry is that the service simply worked when he needed it. For client work abroad, dependable connectivity means large image and video files can be processed and delivered while travelling, helping him meet deadlines even from remote locations.

14. Where is your next adventure taking you?

Henry’s next trip is a road trip through the Alps, combining work and leisure over several weeks. He expects to use an eSIM again to keep costs predictable while maintaining reliable internet access on working days.
