ListerGO case study
Staying connected in the Himalayas
How extreme sports and adventure photographer Henry George used a ListerGO eSIM to stay online throughout a month-long high-altitude paragliding expedition in India.
The traveller
Adventure photography without losing connection
Henry George runs Dolomite Creative Media, specialising in photography and videography for adventure and extreme sports. His work regularly takes him overseas, often into unfamiliar locations where reliable communication is essential for logistics, safety, client work and staying in touch with the wider expedition team.
For this assignment, Henry travelled to Uttarakhand in northern India to cover a high-altitude paragliding expedition in the Himalayas, with pilots Benjamin Kellett and Matt Johnston attempting to fly towards Nanda Devi, India’s highest mountain.
An eSIM for this expedition was the ideal option. I could load it before I left the UK, meaning I could hit the ground running in India, whilst also giving me a fixed cost to add to the financial budget.
The challenge
Roaming bills, local SIM hassle and remote locations
Before using ListerGO, Henry either absorbed roaming charges or tried to source a local SIM after arrival. Both had drawbacks. A three-day work trip to Morocco had previously resulted in around £100 of roaming charges, while sourcing local SIMs could mean language barriers, retailer searches and uncertainty around remaining credit.
“The biggest challenge for my line of work would be leaving the city and finding myself in a remote location, with dwindling credit left on a local SIM.”
The solution
A ListerGO eSIM installed before arrival
Henry purchased his plan online, paid with Apple Pay and received the installation instructions shortly afterwards. He installed the eSIM at Heathrow before departure, kept it alongside his UK SIM on his iPhone, then switched to the India eSIM after landing in Delhi.
“As soon as I touched down in Delhi I turned off my UK SIM and turned on the Indian one, and it worked instantly.”

Why it mattered
Reliable data was part of the expedition toolkit
“Staying connected while working in remote or unfamiliar locations is essential. Organising and managing logistics on the go plays a big part.”
Henry spent around £40 across the month, making connectivity easy to budget before travelling.
The eSIM was installed in the UK and worked as soon as he switched it on after landing.
Henry reported reliable service even where Wi-Fi was patchy and local connectivity could be intermittent.
The real-world difference
eSIM versus buying a local SIM in India
During the trip, Henry accompanied a team member trying to purchase a local SIM. It provided a direct comparison with having ListerGO ready before travel.
Set up before departure
- Purchased online
- Installed at Heathrow
- Connected immediately in Delhi
- No local retailer required
- Predictable, fixed trip cost
Arranged after arrival
- Nearly three hours trying to arrange
- Multiple shops visited
- Language barriers
- Non-resident restrictions
- Intermittent connectivity reported
The result
Simple connectivity that just worked
For Henry, the biggest success was removing connectivity as something he had to think about during a demanding international assignment.
There are so many benefits to a ListerGO eSIM, whether it’s cost, ease of use, etc., but fundamentally it just works.
